Get Empowered With Smile Makers

Valentine’s Day is this weekend and whilst I’ll spending it with my beau, I can’t stop thinking about all the more important relationships we could be focusing on instead. Like the one we have with our body for example. I recently looked back on my road to body positivity for Zusterschap‘s ‘Relationships’ theme and I realised that I let other people warp my perception of myself for so long.

Fast forward a few years and I think I can say I’ve fully embraced myself. There are always going to be parts of my body I’m not happy with, but I’ve definitely stopped worrying about what other people think of me. I think a big reason many people (especially young girls) will feel bad about themselves is because of our society. We live in a society which thrives off creating insecurities and plastering them everywhere, so we’ll feel bad enough to buy their products. It’s a vicious cycle and a very hard one to break, which is why I preach about body positivity and self love so much now.

I believe embracing my sexuality played a huge role in becoming body positive. Growing up, we’re taught that anything natural, like sexual urges, should be suppressed and I’m tired of it. So I was delighted when I was contacted by Smile Makers*, a brand who are all about empowering women. Smile Makers host ‘the friendliest collection of vibrators on the planet’ and are all about normalising conversations around self-pleasure without embarrassment or shame.

Smile Makers’ vibrators are a great introduction to the wide world of vibrating sex toys; they’re smooth, 100% waterproof and very quiet. Although I’m not fond of their individual names (they’re named after men i.e. ‘The Fireman’ and feel too heteronormative), these products certainly look the part.

Smile Makers

I remember when I first started exploring and looking for sex toys as a teen, I was left feeling very overwhelmed. All it took was one gigantic dildo to scare me away and I know that Smile Makers would have been perfect for me back then. The best thing about Smile Makers is how accessible they are as they’re sold exclusively at Superdrug. The reason for this is because they believe looking and feeling beautiful isn’t just about make-up; it’s about physical wellbeing too.

With each vibrator focuses on a different pleasure point, Smile Makers are ideal for first time-users.

I don’t think Valentine’s Day is just for couples. It’s for celebrating the love you have for friends and family, and like you say it’s about to love you have for yourself too.

Hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day and I agree it’s so easy to feel insecure with all the social pressures today, it’s great that you’ve stopped caring what other people think of you.

I am with you in that valentine should totally be about loving yourself too and exploring your own sexuality is so important and too many women are ashamed to embrace the use of sexual aids for their pleasure. These looks really cool but yes the names could use some work 🙂

I had no idea that Superdrug sell adult things. The names are a bit iffy, but I bet they cost less than vibrators do in other high street shops.
