Hi everyone! It’s been two weeks since I posted and I think this break has done me good. Things have been pretty quiet throughout August and I’ve been enjoying some time out. However, I did write my first piece for The Nopebook recently. It’s all about how to navigate period sex for the first time and you can read it here.
I’ve been meaning to up my self care game a little, I was getting to a point where I felt like I wasn’t looking after myself. Back in July, I tried out some products from Bloomtown and today I thought I’d share them with you.
Who are Bloomtown?
I have heard a lot about this brand from other cruelty-free bloggers, Bloomtown are an independent store based in Cornwall. Inspired by woods, gardens and nature in general, they sell a range of bath, body and skincare products. My favourite kind of products! All of their ingredients are sustainable and mostly vegan (I believe some of their products contain beeswax). There’s also an impressively long list of things on their website their products are free from too. The most notable being palm oil, sulphates and parabens free. They pride themselves on only using original formulations all made from scratch. It’s nice to see a company that geniunely cares about the stuff we’re using on our bodies! I was quite excited when I read about this brand, so I decided to order a mix of stuff.
Blue Clay & Indigo Leaf Soothing Mask
The first thing I was drawn to was their blue clay face mask. I really struggle to switch off, a nice soak in the bath with a face mask is my all time favourite way to try relax. As a result, I am always on the look out for new face masks. This is also the product I’ve heard the most about, so I immediately added it to my basket.
If you have sensitive skin, I highly recommend this mask! The blue clay is one of the most soothing things I’ve ever felt on my skin. It also contains indigo leaf and nettle root, which help ease inflammation. At first, I was a little taken back by the size for the price. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how little product you actually need! I apply mine with a face mask brush; a thin layer goes a long way. The most appealing thing about this mask is how it’s doesn’t dry. This means there’s no tight or drying feeling when you come to wash it off, which means people who have previously avoided clay masks may enjoy.
After that, I was pretty stumped on what else to buy. I noticed they had a sampler set, which lets you try four items for £15. Considering the mask alone is £12, I thought this was pretty good and a great way to introduce myself to the brand. The mini sample set included: one Mini Sugar scrub, a Roll-on Perfume Oil, a Mini Soap Square and a small bottle of Pink Himalayan Salt Soak.
All of which are really lovely products. I have no sense of smell, but Iain tells me that both the soap and perfume have subtle, but pleasant smells. The bath salts in particular feel quite luxurious.
If you’re looking to try Bloomtown and don’t know where to start, I think this is a great idea! They even offer you a choice of scents to choose from.
Although I’m really good at looking after my face, I neglect the rest of my body in terms of skincare. With the colder months approaching, I’ve been trying to get into a habit beforehand. I don’t exfoliate my arms and legs enough then I’m somehow surprised when they get flakey. To rectify this, I decided to buy a couple of Bloomtown’s sugar scrubs. I ended up getting a third when I ordered the sampler set!
What I love most about Bloomtown is their dedication to safer ingredients. All their scrubs contain natural exfoliants and the difference in quality is astonishing. Not only are their scrubs good for exfoliating, they leave you feeling actually moisturised too. I’ve tried a few body scrubs in the past that have left me feeling greasy more than anything. Again, you only need to use a small amount. This means these jars will last a while even if you use them daily. What I like most about this product is how moist it stays. I have some lip scrubs that are really dry and can sometimes even hurt when you apply. Bloomtown’s body scrubs apply beautifully and wash off so easily. Their scrubs are honestly a dream and definitely my favourite out of the lot.
