It’s been over four months since I went vegan. I’ve mentioned on my blog before that I still have a few products that aren’t vegan-friendly lying around. Most of which are too used to donate annoyingly. However, when I buy new products I try to buy from companies that are specifically vegan & cruelty-free (remember some products can be one and not the other sometimes!). It’s not always possible sometimes, but I do what I can.
One thing I’ve recently been focusing on at the moment is footwear. I had about six or seven pairs of leather shoes that I donated earlier this year. This caused me to look at the rest of my collection and also search for retailers that sell vegan footwear for future reference. One brand that kept coming up was Iron Fist.
As baby emo, Iron Fist were a brand I adored growing up. Home of quirky, inventive, gothic designs, they were the epitome of alternative fashion and not much has changed. Revisiting them now, I’m thrilled to see how much of it is vegan-friendly and even PETA approved. Ethical fashion doesn’t have to be boring and Iron Fist’s shoes are a perfect example of that.
Whether you’re a summer goth, or into pastel grunge or just like cool designs, there’s something for every season at Iron Fist.
Mother of Pearls Sandal
First up, we have these gorgeous peep toe sandals perfect for any mermaid lover. These shoes are honestly one of the most gorgeous pairs I’ve ever laid my eyes on. With a shell design at the back, the attention to detail is outstanding. The soles of the shoe also feature a whimsical and colourful illustration of mermaids and sea creatures. The best part about these shoes is the high shine and iridescent finish.
One thing I will say about these shoes is that they can take a while to wear in. The material is such high quality, it’s really firm and will rub easily. This year I’ve been trying to get out of my comfort zone fashion-wise and I love how these fishnet socks look with the peep toe.
Turkish Delight Bootie
Since dying my hair orange, I’ve discovered that pink goes really well! As a result, I’m been trying to incorporate it more of it into my wardrobe. I have quite a few pink shirts and dresses, but had no shoes until now. (In case you’re wondering why two pairs are similar-ish colours!) I think pink is a colour that works really well all year round and now I have shoes for multiple seasons.
I fell in love with these boots the moment I saw them and all over again when I opened the box. They’re velvet all over and feature a sequin embellishment on the back. Pink and red are two colours I would have never thought of putting together, but it works so well! These are definitely a statement piece and boots I’ll wear only on special occasions. I’m not that confident in my ability to walk around in heels, but these boots are actually quite comfortable. They’re higher than I was expecting and took a few strides to get used to at first. However, they make me feel so badass! I’ll definitely be styling these out with some darker outfits come Winter.
These boots are no longer on the website, but Iron Fist do have some shoes that feature the same design though.
Wishbone Cleated Sole Flat
I’ll always be a goth at heart and these are my favourite shoes from the three. You can find me in a pair of creepers most of the time throughout the colder months, they’re my go-to shoes. However, the pair I have cherished for years (literally had them since 2011) are not vegan-friendly! I’ve been on the look out for replacement pair for months. My boyfriend got me a pair of Iron Fist’s pink cleated soles for my birthday this year (yes, more pink!) and I just knew I needed another pair.
I’m really glad I waited it out and didn’t go for exact replicas. These black synthetic leather cleated soles fit like a dream. The shoes are a great width (my creepers would slip on and off quite easily), I also really love the bones on the front! All of Iron Fist’s designs are really unique in that aspect. I have two pairs of their shoes that are similar, but the bones are different on each pair.
With shoes ranging from £20 – £80, Iron Fist are mid to high-end. However, I think they’re definitely worth investing in if you can afford to. The shoes are all real high quality, most of which are made from materials that don’t harm animals in the process. I personally don’t mind saving up and paying a bit extra, because I find it hard to find ethical shoes that are my style. A lot of the ones I’ve seen are quite plain, I like shoes that’ll make your head turn! Although all the pairs I own are vegan-friendly, I’m not sure if all of Iron Fist’s shoes are. Please double-check before you buy, their website is pretty informative.
To give you a better idea of how these great these shoes look on, Kaye and I have teamed up to bring you a lookbook. A very first here at Cattitude & Co!
I hope you enjoy these images as much as we did shooting them!
