What Do You Bring To A Staycation?

What Do You Bring To A Staycation?

I hope you are enjoying my new posts, it’s good to be back. Although they may not be all that original, I’m enjoying writing these vegan posts in particular. As this publishes, I’ll probably be on the road. This week, we’re taking our first ever ‘staycation’ together. The lovely people at Bluestone Wales have invited me to stay for four days and I’ll be writing about that too.

One look at my travel category and you’ll see this isn’t the kind of trip we usually take. We tend to do long weekends and explore different cities. If you’re a regular reader, you will know that our trip to Finland was jam-packed. I got my period mid-flight and I was exhausted when I got back. So, I’m really looking forward to a little staycation!

We’re driving up to the countryside to do some hiking, chill out and spend some quality time together. Since I’ve never taken a trip like this before, I kind of had to sit and think about what I need to bring with me! It sounds weird, but I was a little stumped. I thought I’d share all the things we’re taking along with us in case any of you are unsure as well.

More toiletries than I need

Although we are going to be doing some things, I do want to relax as well. I’m in dire need of some of relaxation time and I’m also currently on my period. In addition to that, there are some fun activities onsite that I want to do as well. So, my skin will definitely be in need of some extra TLC!

After my Superdrug haul the other day, I returned to pick up a few extras. I stocked up on some of their own brand face masks, since they’re only 99p. We also picked up some other things I’m excited to try: eye patches, nose pore strips, a foot wash thing(?) as well as a face mask that screams #MasculinitySoFragile. I’ll be interested to see if it’s any different.

Toys from my ‘sex box’

Do you have a sex box? They’re so handy! Dildos, vibrators, condoms, lube, sex toy cleaner, you name it… they all stay in one place. Every time we go on holiday, I pack a little bullet and a handful of condoms. Do you know what’s really essential though? Cystitis medicine. I highly recommend picking some of these up, especially if you expect to have more sex than usual. An increase of sex in a short burst can irritate your bladder and this was definitely how I got a lot of UTIs in the past. They say people on their honeymoons get it a lot. Ultimately, bacteria is normally the cause. Pee after sex if you need to and clean up after.

Comfy clothes

I’m still recovering from the operation I had on my feet and I can only wear certain shoes at the moment. We’ll be doing some walking and as well as a few more outdoor activities, so I don’t need anything fancy anyway. I’m hoping to spend a high percentage of my time in my pyjamas too. Since the weather will be a little worse than it is here in London, we’ve packed some jumpers and waterproofs too.

All of the food!

The most exciting part about preparing for this staycation has been thinking about what meals to make. We don’t really have a dining area at our house, so I’m looking forward to sitting down and eating at the table (it’s the simple things in life, isn’t it?). Most of the time, we do an online shop and pick up other things as and when. For this trip, we got up early and went to a Tesco superstore and it felt so adult. Well it did until I lost Iain.

We picked up a few more things than we would normally, because it’s a holiday after all! I’m excited to try a few more recipes out and also unplug a little.

I would never have thought to pack cystitis medicine!

I always pack a face mask for staycation style travels! I never bother to use them at home but I love them.

That’s cool! I used to limit them to staycations, but I just can’t get enough of them 🙂
